As a parent, it can be deeply concerning when your child has ongoing digestive issues, unexplained mood swings, or struggles with energy and focus. One possible cause that is often overlooked is a microscopic parasite called Dientamoeba fragilis.

What Is Dientamoeba fragilis?

Dientamoeba fragilis is a tiny parasite that lives in the large intestine. It spreads through the "fecal-oral" route, meaning children can become infected by touching contaminated surfaces, water, or food especially in places like schools, playgrounds, and daycare centers.

Despite being small and fragile under a microscope (hence the name), this parasite can cause big problems for some children.
