Parasites in food are a real health risk, especially in meat and fish. Many people wonder whether freezing or cooking can make these foods safe to eat. The short answer is: cooking properly kills almost all parasites, while freezing kills less.


Freezing Meat and Fish:

Freezing helps reduce the risk of parasites, but it is not always 100% effective. Some parasites are killed by freezing if the temperature is cold enough and maintained long enough. However, most home freezers do not get cold enough to guarantee all parasites are destroyed and this poses of intestinal parasites to man and pet.
